MAIN PLAZA FARMERS' MARKET - 2017

Every Tuesday on beautiful, historic Main Plaza from 10:00am to 1:00pm is the farmers' market; bringing you fresh fruits and veggies throughout the summer and fall.

Stop by and visit our farmers, food vendors and arts & crafts vendors.  Sit for awhile and experience the Cooking Demonstrations made from foods purchased at the farmers' market.  There are opportunities to taste what is made, talk with the Chef, receive great cooking tips and take home the recipe along with your purchase from the market and treat the whole family.

Shop the Mobile Mercado, the SA Food Banks latest addition to bringing the grocery store to you.  Shop for fresh food, ready-made sandwiches and meals and so much more...   this is an experience and special treat you won't want to miss.

The MPFM farmers are local and proud to bring you the freshest in produce.  They are happy to answer any questions you may have and share some farming secrets.

The MPFM vendors are also local and manufacture what they sell, keeping it local and grass roots.  Hand-made leather goods, fresh soaps, tamales, pasties, herb seedlings, rice pudding, salad greens, household goods, canned food and roasted almonds & pecans; with new vendors being added to the mix weekly.

Available are the TDA Farmers Market Program, Lonestar Card and other local programs to assist you in feeding your family.

Live music by local artists, some of the best in San Antonio bring your shopping pleasure to greater heights along with the City Food Truck Program offering delectible lunchtime food and treats.

Additional lunch opportunities are available at Blue Star Ice House (brisket sandwiches, chips and ice cold craft brew) and El Oasis Cafe #2 (hamburgers, sno-cones, fries corn in a cup and assorted drinks), both kiosks are located on Main Plaza.

Main Plaza Conservancy in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank are pleased to bring this weekly market to the downtown area each week, FIGHTING HUNGER...FEEDING HOPE.

If you are a farmer or local vendor and want to join the farmers' market or if you would like to financially support these efforts with a donation, please contact: jvelasquez@safoodbank.org or info@mainplaza.org .

Piece Titled ‘¡Viva Coyote!’ by Local Artists Los Otros is Part of ‘Go Spurs Go in the 2-1-0’ Playoffs Theme

Fans Can Take Photos Through Augmented Reality App EyeJack to Bring Mural to Life

The San Antonio Spurs unveiled a second Spurs 2017 Playoffs mural on Thursday, April 27 in Main Plaza. The piece, titled ‘¡Viva Coyote!’, was created by San Antonio artists Nik Soupe and Shek Vega of Los Otros Murals<http://losotrosmurals.com/our-team/>. The eight-foot-by-12-foot spray paint and acrylic on board piece features the Spurs mascot with a Fiesta® San Antonio motif. Soupe and Vega recently revealed a mural titled ‘Soy 210’ at the AT&T Center to launch the team’s 2017 NBA Playoffs theme, ‘Go Spurs Go in the 2-1-0’ (pronounced two-one-oh). Both murals feature a unique digital animation design element through the augmented reality app EyeJack.

Visit Spurs.com/mural<http://www.nba.com/spurs/mural> to download the app on Android and iOS devices to bring the artwork to life in shareable videos.

The ‘Go Spurs Go in the 2-1-0’ campaign is an extension of 2016 postseason theme ‘Paint the Town Silver & Black’, linking the team with the city and the fans, and celebrating the time of year when the Alamo City comes together for Spurs Playoffs, Fiesta, and Cinco de Mayo. Spurs fans from all over the world can represent the vibrancy of The 2-1-0. Visit Spurs.com/fanguide<http://www.nba.com/spurs/fanguide> for more information on the Spurs 2017 Playoffs.

#BeforeYouPour

This public event is a Holiday Alcohol Awareness Campaign. Come out and learn the facts about drinking and driving. Alcohol-impaired driving crashes still account for one-third of all traffic-related deaths in the United States. The annual cost of alcohol-related crashes totals more than $51 billion. Facts such as these continue to drive efforts in communities around the country to reduce driving under the influence. Now is the time for advocates to demonstrate their social media acumen and inform on this hot topic. We will have free handouts and be spreading the word on alcohol safety during the holidays. Brought to you by University Health Systems and Vision Zero.
