El Nacimiento The Birth of San Antonio is an educational entertainment presenting the rich history of the city’s beginnings through music, dance, and drama, an "EDUTAINMENT" of the origins of San Antonio presented by the four founding community groups of San Antonio! Beginning promptly at 1:30 PM at Main Plaza before the front doors of San Fernando Cathedral, the event is FREE and open to the public.
This thrilling presentation, which will begin with an impressive procession into Main Plaza from the Spanish Governor's Palace, will allow those representing Native Americans, Spanish Presidio Soldiers, Spanish Friars, and the Canary Islanders to provide a gift of storytelling about their ancestors during the Spanish colonial era genesis of what is now San Antonio.
El Nacimiento The Birth of San Antonio will highlight the importance of these communities, individually and together, to the foundation and unique history of San Antonio.
The Canary Islands Descendants Association presents this gift in conjunction with
- American Indians in Texas
- Rio Grande Native American Church
- San Antonio Founding Heritage
- San Antonio Living History Association
- Tehuan Band of Mission Indians of San Antonio
