FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                  August 25, 2008

Fall Into Más Música at Main Plaza.

Main Plaza Conservancy, a nonprofit organization committed to providing San Antonio with the historical and cultural heart of the city, hosts an ambitious schedule of events with Más Música in September.

September 12 & 13 brings the 1st Annual San Antonio Latino Music Festival to Main Plaza—two days of música y cultura in downtown San Antonio.  Friday, September 12 is ROOTS/FUSION – music that speaks to the diversity of Latinidad.  From Eva Ybarra y su Conjunto showcasing our region’s roots music, to the ethno-jazz grooves of Strunz & Farah – Friday’s line-up is mestizaje, a ROOTS/FUSION of the Latino/American experience.

Saturday, September 13 is SAN ANTONIO SOUND – a day celebrating our very own: living legends and punk rockers, Mexicana cantantes and musicians carrying on the family tradition – many of whom have home-town connections playing on each other recent recordings or jamming out together in backyards.  This time the public is invited to the party!

Raza en la Plaza, a series with a strong focus on San Antonio music, happens every Friday and Saturday night in September from 7-10pm.   The series continues every Friday & Saturday night through Saturday, October 11, 2008.  September 5 & 6 is Raza en la Plaza’s San Antonio Rock & Roll Weekend featuring South Texas rock, blues, and instrumental surf band Los #3 Dinners on Friday night and psychedelic-country-punk-pop band Snowbyrd on Saturday night.  September 19 & 20 brings Spanish Armada Nights on the Plaza with Joe Jama playing Friday and Ernie Garibay & Cats Don’t Sleep on Saturday.  September’s Raza en la Plaza culminates with Legends Weekend— Eva Ybarra y Su Conjunto (Friday) and Spot Barnett (Saturday).

Additional September programming includes:

·         Blue Mondays – Back by popular demand, blues music curated by the American Federation of Musicians is extended through mid September—

Monday, September 1: No Music/Labor Day
