APRIL 2: Good Friday Passion Play                                                                                    The annual “Passion Play” and procession, organized by San Fernando Cathedral, begins at Milam Park and culminates in a re-enactment of Jesus' suffering and crucifixion at Main Plaza.

April 9: Fresh Air Friday                                                                                                 Local organizations provide helpful information on improving air quality and other "green" measures that help our environment, promote active and healthy living, improve transportation and keep our city beautiful!  Organized by the Alamo Area Council of Governments and featuring live music provided by Main Plaza Conservancy.  11:30 a.m.

APRIL 5 - 16: Jazz Market                                                                                                    A workday brown-bag lunch series featuring 10 different local jazz acts in a two-hour concert starting at 11:30 a.m.  The Jazz Market is presented in partnership with American Federation of Musicians, American Music Fund, City of San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs, and Main Plaza Conservancy.



RESCHEDULED TO APRIL 19 DUE TO RAIN: Pedro Infante Fan Club Meeting & Film Screening                                         “The Annual Meeting of the Pedro Infante Club de Admiradores, San Anto Chapter” commemorates the 53th Anniversary of Mexican film legend Pedro Infante’s death.

APRIL 16:                       La Noche del Rey           La Coronación of Rey Feo, “the “people’s king” presented by the Consejo Real de Reyes Feos Anteriores.

APRIL 17: Corazón de San Antonio Fiesta                                                                 

Main Plaza Conservancy’s annual fiesta celebration featuring the presentation of “El Corazón de San Antonio” cultural award; 2009 recipients included Esteban Jordan and Flaco Jimenez.

This year we honor actor JESSE BORREGO, JR.  Jesse will be present to accept the award and to join CONJUNTO BORREGO onstage for a performance.  The event includes a day of cultural entertainment that culminates in a performance by JOE KING CARRASCO.

APRIL 22 – 25: San Fernando Fiesta                                                                                  Annual 4-day fiesta event  sponsored by San Fernando Cathedral featuring traditional Fiesta foods and music.

MAY 28: Heart of the City Gala & Award Presentation                                                     Experience the taste and dress of Mexico Viejo as Main Plaza Conservancy honors a San Antonio visionary with the heart of San Antonio Civic Award.  Join former Mayor Phil Hardberger for this sit-down cena (dinner) in our distinct urban public space.  Ticketed event.

MAY – OCTOBER 2010: MAIN PLAZA HAS…People. Music. Film. Dance.          

Spanning from May to October, and running the gamut from jazz to country to film and dance, Main Plaza’s “Heart and Soul Summer” (HAS) Series features local musicians and performing artists plus a variety of creative happenings for free at Main Plaza in downtown San Antonio.

OCTOBER 30: Corazón de Memoria Altar                                                                         Main Plaza’s 3rd Annual Dia de los Muertos public art installation.  On display through Nov. 7.

NOVEMBER 20: Main Plaza Remembers-The Mexican Revolution                        
The event commemorates November 20, 1910: Francisco Ignacio Madero denounced President Porfirio Díaz, declared himself president of Mexico, and called for a national insurrection.
